Costa Rica-2011
June 3-Depart from the airport earlier than any sane human should be awake! Hopefully, to arrive at Liberia airport & be picked up by Juan and Carol with an nice air-conditioned van and transported to El Punto Hotel. This is the authentic hotel where we'll have a brief stay (less than 12 hours).
Note: We are travelling with Juan and Carol since the people at the hotel offered us a ride for "20 dollars." This turned out to be PER PERSON, for a total of 100 bucks for a 3 mile trip! That's why arranged our own ride.
June 4-Our rental car is scheduled to be delivered at 8:30am from Vamos car rental. Next stop, Playa Carillo...where we'll stay in a Scandinavian designed home with beautiful ocean views, private pool & gazebo with bbq. Our goal here is relaxation, swimming & eating lots of fresh fruit & fish.
June 8-Onto La Fortuna! And Silencio del Campo...this is the longest driving leg of our trip, hopefully only 5 hours? We'll be here for 3 nights. Not sure of the order of our itinerary but the activities will be: Hanging Bridges, Venado Caves, Fortuna Waterfall and swimming in hot springs.
June 11-We'll arrive at our final destination, Hermosa Heights in Playa Hermosa, Guanacaste. Very little planned at this destination except for beach time. The girls are very excited about getting virgin margaritas from the swim-up bar.
June 17-Homeward bound. We'll see how the kids and I make our 70 minute sprint off the plane, through customs, then catching tram to a different terminal and gate check in. Anything is possible right? (I have now figured out how to make sure we all do carry-on so that we won't need to wait for our luggage for customs. Tom is taking the only checked baggage. Also, a nice employee at Continental changed our seats from the back of the plane to elite status in the front of the plane, so that we can get off a little faster.) If the plane out of Liberia is on time, we might actually make the 70 minute plane change time.
